From the beginning in 1979, Tenhulzen has matured into a highly successful, quality-focused, second generation remodeling company with 4 divisions. Established by Jack Tenhulzen and his wife Pat, the company was largely a one-man operation working out of a home office. Growth was slow, but consistent. In 1984, Tenhulzen Remodeling, Inc., became a member of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties (MBA), marking a move to a leadership position in the local construction industry. From the very beginning, a commitment to high industry standards has been the hallmark of Tenhulzen Corporation. Through an active leadership participation in the MBA, a commitment to continuing education, and a focus on quality workmanship, the company has continued to grow and expand year after year.
It was Jack Tenhulzen's intent to build his reputation on quality workmanship and reliability. It is this rock-solid combination that so many Tenhulzen customers have come to trust. By 1988, the business had outgrown its home office space and property in downtown Redmond was acquired. Jack and his crew undertook the remodeling and renovation of a 1930's home, giving it a second life as a modern office building while at the same time retaining its residential charm.
Upon completion, the new Tenhulzen Remodeling sign was installed in the front yard, sparking an unprecedented number of sales leads. In keeping with his commitment to continuing education and quality standards, in 1991 Tenhulzen Companies hired their first computer designer and began producing plan-sets in AutoCAD. This early indoctrination into automated design helped Tenhulzen Corporation become a local leader in Design/Build remodeling. A design center naturally evolved from this, as samples were needed to help clients select products and finishes to be used in their remodeling projects.
By 1996, the Tenhulzen Design Center had outgrown its space and a new 1500 square foot addition to the Redmond office building was completed. It has proven to be a valuable resource for busy clientele who appreciate the ability to specify all their needs in one convenient location. The Custom Homes and Real Estate divisions emerged from son Brian Tenhulzen's interest in joining the family business. With his experience as a real estate agent for a renowned Eastside brokerage, Brian received his brokerage license and joined Tenhulzen Remodeling as a Project Consultant. Now a client is able to explore all available opportunities at one location. They can remodel an existing home, look into the possibility of building a custom home, or list their home and locate a new home.
Tenhulzen Corporation has become a leader in the Design/Build field of residential remodeling. Growth continues to be the direct result of a commitment to satisfying customers, and their customers' trust in the quality workmanship and cutting-edge services they receive from Tenhulzen.
