Not every addition is designed to sweat in.
After considering a main floor addition for an exercise room, our customer came up with the idea of having it located over the existing game room below. This meant it would be accessible only by the master suite – which worked out well for the adjacent bathroom and steam shower.
The design began with engineering the floor loads and designing the mechanical layout through the new structure. The resulting solution point-loaded steel I-beams spanning the length of the room, with flush 2×8 joists set perpendicular.
Ample supply and exhaust air prevents the room from getting muggy.
