Wine Shop Disaster: Rescuing A Community Business
July 4, 2023, Village Wines in Woodinville’s Hollywood Tourist District accidentally triggered their sprinkler system, causing over 3,000 gallons of water to flood 2,500 square feet in 30 minutes. The Woodinville Fire Department response was swift, but the damage was already done, leaving behind a soggy mess that affected floors, trim, walls and cabinetry.
Insurance activated ServPro to remove 1,500 bottles of wine to temporary storage, and remove all water-logged building components over the course of 2 weeks. Tenhulzen Residential was asked to engage after the business owners received expected replacement duration of 8+weeks from their insurance carrier.
Meticulous Restoration
Tenhulzen Residential sprang into action following the tragedy. After completing the water damage remediation, Tenhulzen’s design and production team swiftly assessed the scope of work, integrated components, and determined the expected duration.
The team measured the affected spaces for replacement drywall, flooring, cabinetry, countertops, casework, and paint. In the design process, they opted for updated finishes with lighter and more comfortable colors and textures.
Establishing a 5-week production schedule, the project was completed two days ahead of schedule, enabling the timely furnishing and reopening of the restaurant.
A Showcase of Design and Craftsmanship
Cabinetry was removed, but only to replace the flooring underneath. Since the insurance company was not going to replace the cabinets, new doors and drawer fronts were provided by Cabinetree Works. New countertops were chosen to coordinate with flooring and cabinetry selections. This not only added aesthetic appeal but also increased the kitchen crew’s workspace, allowing them to continue creating delicious food for their patrons.
The synergy between Village Wines and Tenhulzen Residential’s designer, Ronda Lane was remarkable. Together, they selected the perfect combination of new flooring, countertops, trim, and paint. These elements infused the space with a fresh, modern look, giving a nod to the venue’s status as a central hub for the community.
Quality and Collaboration
Tenhulzen Residential and Village Wines actively demonstrated the power of community through this collaborative journey. Local businesses, showcasing unwavering support and hard work, passionately collaborated to assist Village Wines in swiftly restoring their establishment after the tragic incident. It was an honor to be part of this effort, showcasing the strength of a community coming together to uplift and preserve a beloved establishment, ensuring its doors reopened promptly.
This heartwarming story underscores the resilience of local businesses and the significance of community spirit. It stands as a testament to the dedication of those who form the backbone of our neighborhoods, working together to overcome challenges and create something beautiful out of a challenging situation. The collaboration between these businesses serves as a shining example of what can be achieved when a community rallies around one of its own in times of need.
