Tenhulzen’s Twelve (2014)

"In Theater" The idea for this poster was sparked by a desire for a company photo, blending our performance-based remodeling theme with iconic movie posters. It began with a KPC auction purchase, leading to our first Annual Vendor And Trade Awards Recognition (AVATAR) event.

Tenhulzen’s Twelve

The inspiration behind this poster began with the desire to shoot a company photo. Coupled with our themed approach to performance-based Design | Build remodeling, and the official movie posters already adorning our design center, the most challenging decision was: which movie poster to imitate.

This idea began as a KPC auction purchase for use of the Kirkland Performance Center (KPC) for an evening. After a few months of contemplating its best use, we decided to turn the theater into a party honoring those who support our efforts. As a result, over 150 vendors, trade contractors and associates attended our first Annual Vendor And Trade Awards Recognition (AVATAR) event hosted “in theatre” at the KPC (Facebook Album).

Stage presentations included the re-innovation of TR and our thematic approach to Design/Build remodeling. Guests were pre-registered to receive a backstage pass with access to beer, wine, appetizers and a lasagna dinner weaved into a 2-part awards presentation on stage.

Clever Content:     The word ‘creative’ is worth 12 points in Scrabble.  Our AVATAR Awards stand for Annual Vendor And Trade Awards Recognition. 12 employees = 24 thumbs up.

Mac MacDonald emceed the event with a cast of presenters including Chris Ballard of The Ballard Agency, Dan Davidson with Principal Financial, Carol Didier of Summit Accounting and Ryan Gaylord of Localloop.

2014 AVATAR Winners:

Tenhulzen Painting (Safety Award), Rosemary Photography (Memorable Moment), Sterling Electric (Reliable Service), Ronda Webb (Creative Solution), Cary Longmire (Customer Service), Dunn Lumber (Vendor of the Year), and Riley & Sons Drywall (Trade Contractor of the Year).

We shopped for a whopping 45 minutes at the the outfits at Value Village in Woodinville for the outfits.  Each character emerged from the style and size of the selected clothing.

The goal was to get 10 outfits as close to the original movie poster as possible for under $200. Our grease man was discovered when he selected his jacket from the ladies section.

Working with our photographer on the set was a lot more fun than anyone expected. Adult beverages were on hand to assist with keeping it loose while getting into character. To simulate the effect of walking, the crew was choreographed to step all at once, repeatedly and the result of our session was a selection of 15 top photos from the roughly 50 shots that was narrowed down to a single poster-worthy exposure. More importantly, this event will be remembered as a unique experience that enhanced camaraderie and a greater sense of team.
